Country of the Month: Indonesia

Indonesia is a very beautiful country!

I say this with all my heart because I lived in Jakarta for a good two years, from 2003 to 2005. I was assigned here to be the first fulltime pastoral worker for Youth For Christ. I still can speak the language and have alot of good friends from there. I was able to go to Medan, Palembang, Bali, Bandung, Larantuka, and Maumere. I was able to experience the best and the worst of Indonesia. But let me tell you of the best in this review:

1) Bali - One of it's most popular destinations, Bali is a surfer's delight! Though I am not a surfer, I began to admire the world of surfing because of BALI. People from all over the world come to Bali to surf. I was able to come here several times and even had my honeymoon here last January 2008.

Bali's culture is very diverse and very interesting. It is a mixture of Hindu, Malay and many others.

One may compare this lovely destination to Boracay, but Bali has an edge in terms of culture and activities. It has a Safari, a Water theme park, wonderful shopping stores, and all kinds of tours for different types of people. Though, i must admit that Boracay has better sands. Way way better...

2) Taman Safari - Think of Jurassic Park minus the dinosaurs! You bring your car into the park and enjoy the life in the jungle! That's how great this zoo is! Once i brought a friend who couldn't read the signs (in bahasa indonesia) and opened the window to admire a cute bear. That later stood up and almost clawed it's way into the car because it was attracted to the flash of my friend's camera! EXCITING ISN"T IT?

3) Bandung- the factory outlet lover's paradise! Just a couple hours away from Jakarta, this place is full of factory outlets of different brands- TOMMY HILFIGER, ESPRIT, GAP, RALPH LAUREN, and more.

If you are interested, we have great packages for Jakarta,Indonesia. Call us now and we'll give you free Taman Safari tours.
